Quick Tips & Solutions for Google Home
How do I connect my Tapo devices to Google Home?
You can connect your Tapo devices to Google by linking your Tapo account to your Google account in the Google Home app. First, make sure your Tapo device is set up and online in the Tapo app, then add Tapo as a “Works with Google” service in Google Home and assign a clear name and room to your device. Once linked, you can use Google Assistant voice commands to stream your device’s live view on supported devices like Chromecast or Google Nest Hub (note that live view is not supported directly in the Google Home app).
Fail to watch live stream on Google Hub?
Watching the live feed of Tapo cameras through Google Assistant will use your internet traffic, as it’s a Cloud-to-Cloud service. In consideration of your extranet traffic and performance, the live feed will stop automatically after 10 minutes. However, you can ask Google to show the camera again if you want to continue streaming.
Why can't I watch live streams from Tapo Cameras on Google Home app?
Live view is not supported in the Google Home app. In Google Home’s Public Preview, it provides an under-development feature to access live streams for Works with Google Home cameras. But this feature isn't available for all cameras, including Tapo cameras, so please wait for the future update from Google.
